Haryana International Film Festival wil be organized in April & May 2017. There are more than 50 Haryanvi Films. Dharti (1968) is know as the first Haryanvi language film made in Haryana. After this Beera Shera (1973) and 'Harphul Jat Julaneywala' (1974) were released but Haryanvi film "Bhaurani' (1983) gave real start to the Haryanvi film culture. In 1984, 'Devi Shankar Prabhakar's Chandrawal' success was influential enough to ensure that Haryanvi film production would continue. It broke multiple box office records and was a superhit in Haryana, Western U.P., Delhi and parts of Rajasthan. After this more than 40 Haryanvu film were released byt Producer Kumud & Harvinder Malik's 'Laado'. (2000) was another successful movie directed by Ashwini Chaudhary, won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director at the National Film Awards. This was for the first time a Haryanvi movie won a national award.

'Pagdi The Honour', released in 2014, received two National Film Awards at the 62nd National Film Awards. Baljinder Kaur won National FIlm Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in this film and the film won the National Award for Best Haryanvi Feature Film, Another Haryanvi Film 'Satrangi' win the National Award for Best Haryanvi Feature Film for year 2015.
